3 STEPS ANYONE CAN TAKE TO CREATE A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE
I don’t know about you, but all over my instagram feed and social media accounts are diet fads and people doing these crazy exercises, that really are not necessary, in my own opinion. It is hard and most of all, overwhelming, when looking to make a healthy shift in your lifestyle. The fad diets, obscene gym selfies and crazy workouts no one dares to even try, because some of those exercises just look absolutely ridiculous! So please oh please, don’t let the overwhelmed feeling take over and stop you from making some simple changes in your lifestyle.
#1 WATER
Hydration is key! Water intake is something that is so simple, not expensive at all, and the most overlooked part of our health. I see people reaching for soda and not water. I see people crawling to grab another cup of coffee, definitely me! Even sugar filled coffee drinks instead of water. Not that you can’t have a coffee, or a soda, but we are reaching for those way more then what we are for our water bottles. So I challenge you to start reaching for those water bottles and to take your water bottle with you everywhere! Even as simply as starting to implement this into your daily routine and your skin, gut, and energy will thank you! I’m all good for coffee, but start to train yourself to drink it black, or if you are a soda lover, trying switching to my favourite alternative that actually has taste, Zevia. The times are changing and there are so many healthy alternatives for all of our favourites, they are getting it down to a science to where these healthy alternatives actually taste good! It will taste different, of course, but just give it a try, not just once, but for like a month and I think you’ll be surprised at how your taste buds will change and prefer the healthy alternatives. So challenge yourself to drink half of your body weight in water!
#2 MOVE YOUR BODY
Take a 30 minute walk. Do lunges or squats around your house or push-ups. There are many, very effective, exercises that you can do without equipment in your home if the gym setting is just not for you. Go outside and take a 30 minute walk, it is amazing what an energy and mood lifter being outside in nature can do for you. Fresh air, sunshine, cold, warm weather, or whatever weather condition it may be by you, it always feels so good to just get outside and walk a bit. Doesn’t have to be an hour or two in the gym. When you get more comfortable and become more serious about certain aspects in a healthy lifestyle, then you start implementing gym workouts and more challenging workouts. But to start, or on those days you just don’t have it in you or you feel in a funk, go outside for a 30 minute walk, it does wonders!
#3 SLEEP
Again, another thing that gets so neglected. We go to bed late for no reason. We stay up late binge watching tv even though we have an early morning. Your body and stress levels are so dependent on sleep which of course effects your weight, energy, and mood. Of course there will be nights that you can’t help it if you don’t get a full 7-8 hours, especially my momma friends out there! Kids or not, go to bed when you can and at a reasonable time so that you can really try get 7-8 hours each night. Good nights sleep, well-rested, abundance of energy in the morning and to get you through your day. Sleep, sleep, sleep! It really is so vital for our stress levels. Feel like you are doing everything right to lose weight, but just can’t seem to get anywhere with it? It probably is your stress levels, when your body is in stress, good or bad stress, it is releasing cortisol. We need our bodies to be able to manage those cortisol levels. Water, nutrition, sleep all play such vital roles with our bodies being able to keep those cortisol levels at bay.
So don’t feel frustrated or lost, start with these three simple steps. Sleep, hydration, and move your body. Start with those three, and once you get those three under control, or some what managed and comfortable with those, then start incorporating other challenges. One step at a time, don’t get overwhelmed, it is a journey for a reason. Jumping all in on a new journey can sometimes be setting yourself up for failure. So dream big, but start out small and keep pushing yourself. Once you become the master at it, then move on to the next step! We all deserve and should care about taking care of the one body we were given! So start here if you are feeling lost, you can and you will accomplish it!
On a side note, these are my favourite looks for this spring! Plus today only, they are on sale for 30% off and full stocked on sizes and colours. If you’re like me, buying spring pieces to add to the closet definitely help with the winter blues!
