ABBOTSFORD TULIP FIELDS .
I never used to be a fan of Tulips, I really never paid attention to them until this spring, don’t ask my why though! I grew up in a Dutch community, so I most definitely was exposed to tulips and the wooden Dutch shoes, I mean we had a whole weekend affair called the Dutch Festival in my small knit dutch community in Edgerton, Minnesota! But like I said, I never thought that the tulip was anything special, until this year. I now live on the west coast of Canada and we live in an area with Dutch pockets of people around as well, guess I just love the Dutch! We have a big field of tulips that are in Abbotsford, and we have avoided them the past two years, only because of the amount of people that it attracts from Vancouver and its surrounding areas, it is literally stand still traffic on our one and only highway. High bloom in the fields and sunshine in the forecast for the weekend is a recipe for chaos!
Locals night is when we went and checked out the tulip fields and I can’t believe we haven’t been doing this the last two years that we have been living here! We were seriously missing out! It is quite something when you are standing in rows and rows of these beautiful flowers! I can only imagine what is is like in the Netherlands with fields on fields on fields of tulips, these Abbotsford Tulips probably do not even compare to that, but it is worth checking out if you are in the area!
If you live locally, definitely go during the week and go after work! Way cheaper and not that many people! Tuesday and Thursday nights are for the locals, so if you are in the Fraser Valley, you can get in for a Tooney! It definitely is worth it in my opinion! Sunsets, mountains, and tulip fields, it really doesn't get much better than that!
