OUR IRISH CASTLE FAIRY TALE
We knew when we booked our tickets to Ireland that we wanted to stay in a castle for sure. I mean, as the girliest girl growing up dreaming of being a princess some day, we definitely had no choice but staying in a castle, sorry to my poor husband that puts up with my crazy ideas when we go on adventures. You always have to have a splurge or two when your on holidays, so a stay in the castle was definitely a must.
There is no shortage of castles that have turned into places to stay for a luxury experience. We chose Kilronan Castle because it was absolutely beautiful and just fit in perfectly for what we wanted. They had the best selection of rooms including original castle rooms and authentic castle rooms and many more to choose from. We stayed in the Turlough O’Carolan Suite, it is one of their authentic rooms and it did not disappoint! It had beautiful windows overlooking Loch Meelagh, and we were greeted with delicious chocolates and a chilled bottle of wine. I am definitely a sucker for the four-poster bed, so that also had me sold on the room. Nothing like waking up in a bed that makes you feel like royalty, hey a girl can have those days every once in awhile. Oh but that is not all, the jacuzzi with its heated bathroom floors also sold me on this particular room. They have an absolutely gorgeous spa and tons of property to take foggy morning walks on.
That night we had the fanciest and most delicious dinner of our lives. My mouth is now watering thinking about my Truffle Tortellini, I’m a sucker for good tortellini. Eric got to choose our bottle of wine and taste before we bought the whole bottle, and we got a million different stares. We were the youngest people in there by about a good forty years, but hey, we can enjoy our twenty year old selves in a castle stay, right?! Just a friendly reminder that people are always going to have an opinion on everything, but don’t let that stop you or ruin your time out at work, traveling, eating out, or whatever or wherever you are, just enjoy yourselves!
After dinner I finished with an amazing soak in the jacuzzi tub, my absolute favourite. The comfiest robes and slippers to lounge in the rest of the evening and next morning was also the perfect touch done by the Estates. They really thought of everything, it was the perfect stay! Definitely taking notes for our future home some day, jacuzzi and four-poster bed is a must. A loch in my front yard would also be nice, but I know that may be asking too much but I’ll see what my husband can do, he has a tendency to somehow make everything happen, how did I get so lucky?!
The staff at Kilronan was absolutely incredible and so friendly, always makes the stay so much more enjoyable!
